Description

CGC SENECA NR1 MDE HOT OIL FLUSH

The U.S. Coast Guard is completing an overhaul of CGC SENECA (WMEC 906) NR1 Main Diesel Engine and requires a hot oil flush of the engine, lube oil system components, and piping prior to returning the engine to service. This is an ALCO 251-F series engine.

The work will be completed within CGC SENECA’s engine room with a performance period of 12 – 26 February 2024. This performance period is not flexible due to other work associated with the engine overhaul.

Work to be performed at the following address:

COMMANDING OFFICER

USCGC SENECA (WMEC 906)

4000 COAST GUARD BLVD

PORTSMOUTH, VA 23703

The purpose of this flush is to remove particulate contamination from the engine lube oil system following the overhaul process. This task must be completed as per the work specification provided in a separate document. Only companies that can provide documentation showing successful completion of this specific task onboard a Coast Guard 210’ or 270’ WMEC within the last five years will be considered due to the degree of difficulty, specialized equipment required by vendor, project timeline, and high risk of engine failure if not completed correctly.

The vendor is required to supply all equipment and material such as but not limited to: pumps, heaters, filters, filter media, hoses, piping, fittings, tools, a source of electrical power, crane services, oil containment boom and oil spill clean-up kit to complete this work item.

The government will not provide any material or services in support of this project.

Potential vendors are encouraged to review the work specification and drawings for this task. They should also thoroughly review the operations and service manual for an ALCO 251-F series engine.

Questions should be directed to Phillip. W. Norris at 757-628-4556 or via email at Phillip.W.Norris@uscg.mil
