Description:

The project generally consists of the removal of the existing book drop and surrounding wall and the installation of a new book pick-up window. The pick-up window will consist of an upper fixed window unit and a lower sliding window unit. This assembly will be mounted in new wall construction to match the configuration of the adjacent windows. To better protect the pick-up window from the weather, the existing copper roof will be removed and a larger roof installed essentially matching the existing roof. Interior modification is this area will include the removal of a portion of the existing wall, including an existing door, frame and hardware.

In addition to the new pick-up window, a new book drop will be installed. This new book drop will consist of a custom fabricated stainless-steel unit which will be provided by the City to the Contractor. Installation will require a new opening in the exterior masonry wall and the removal of a portion of existing casework.

A pre-bid conference has been scheduled to occur at 11:00am on January 18, 2023 at the project site (Gordon Avenue Library; 1500 Gordon Avenue, Charlottesville, VA). Those attending should meet at the Main Entrance.
Attendance is not mandatory but is strongly recommended. Bidders will gather at the main entrance of the library. Bidders not attending the pre-bid conference shall acknowledge on the bid form that they have or have not visited and inspected the site.
