Description

Notice of Intent to Sole Source IAW 6.302-1

This requirement is for the continued lease of already installed private cage with circuit based power at Equinix Data Centers with cross connects that was previously solicited, competed, and awarded to Equinix, Inc. under Contract 15DDHQ20F00000665.

The Government has a requirement to maintain the current DEA Cloud infrastructure in a colocation facility with a high speed connection to the DEA facility in Sterling, VA. The current system is hosted at the Equinix facility in Ashburn, Virginia and is connected to the DEA Sterling Park Technology Center (SPTC) via a leased dark fiber connection. DEA currently holds a five year contract with the provider of the dark fiber connection. The location of this facility was required to be within approximately 8 kilometers of the DEA SPTC facility due to the cost of establishing the dark fiber link to provide the required high-speed connection.

Additionally, the government has a requirement to establish a second co-location facility to support Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities. A separate DR site will provide alternate duplicate systems that can be brought online in the event that primary systems are compromised. The DR facility must reside in a different power grid from the current systems and provide efficient and dependable communications paths between the two facilities.
