Description
This is a SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. It is neither a solicitation announcement nor a request for proposals or quotes and does not obligate the Government to award a contract. Responses to this sources sought notice must be in writing. The purpose of this sources sought announcement is for market research to make appropriate acquisition decisions and to gain knowledge of potential businesses interested and capable of providing the supplies described below.

VA Long Beach Healthcare System located in 5901 East 7th Street, Long Beach, CA 90822 is looking for a contractor to provide nine (9) types of Kitchen Equipment listed below as a part of the B126 Renovate Hospital Room Service Kitchen Project 600-17-102. VA Long Beach is requesting contractors to provide brand name or equal kitchen equipment listed below that meet or exceed the physical, functional, and performance of the listed salient characteristics in the section below. Contractors shall show clear, compelling, and convincing evidence that all equal to items meet all required salient characteristics in accordance with FAR 52.211-6 Brand Name or Equal. Installation is not requested at this time.
PLANETARY MIXER VOLLRATH 40760 OR EQUAL 1EA
Must be a minimum of 60-quart planetary floor mixer
Must have at least 3-speed belt driven transmission
Must have a digital timer with automatic stop & audible shutoff signal
Must have a bowl truck for bowl transport
Must have a minimum#12 hub due to condition of the infrastructure
Must have Thermal overload protection to protect motors from overheating
Must provide minimum accessories of dough hook, wire whisk, flat beater, stainless steel mixing bowl & safety guard accessories with the purchase

Must be a Heavy-duty potato peeler that peels at least 50 to 60 pounds of potatoes in three minutes
Must have Four cast aluminum legs with two heavy duty wheels
Must have a side mounted water inlet with hose fitting
Peel strainer and drive shaft must be Stainless steel
Must have a silicon carbide abrasive disk to peel potato skin
Must have a Poly V-belt drive
Must have a #4 polished satin SST finish; this is a common practice for kitchen equipment
Must have a minimum of 1HP motor with manual reset overload protection. Motor with grease-packed ball bearings and ventilation within peeler enclosure.
Must have at least 8-foot flexible electric cord with plug per NEMA configuration
Switch must be manual tumbler type, located in a reachable location

Must be a Countertop style ice and water dispenser
Must have a minimum of 50lb ice storage capacity
Must be able to produce at least 425lb of chewable ice
Must have Automatic self-flushing of ice machine that removes impurities
Drain cup must provide internal air gap for added protection of food zone components from drain line contaminants
Must have a built-in antimicrobial protection to ice and water contact components
Must have an option to clean and sanitize machine in 1-hour
Panels must be easily removed for accessibility to all component
Must have stainless steel evaporator and auger for durability
Must meet Consortium for Energy Efficiency Tier 2 specifications
Must use R404a refrigerant or equivalent. R404a refrigerant is preferred as this is used and kept in stock at VA Long Beach HVAC Department for necessary maintenance and repairs

The Government is not obligated to nor will it pay for or reimburse any costs associated with responding to this sources sought announcement. This notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. The Government will in no way be bound to this information if any solicitation is issued. The VA is mandated by Public Law 109-461 to consider a total set-aside for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses. However, if there are insufficient Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business responses, an alternate set-aside or full and open competition may be determined. No sub-contracting opportunity is anticipated. The North American Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 333241 (500 employees).

Responses to this notice shall be submitted via email to hestia.sim@va.gov. Telephone responses will not be accepted. Responses must be received no later than 1/26/2023 10:00 AM Pacific Local Time.

After review of the responses to this sources sought announcement, a solicitation may be published on the beta.sam.gov or GSA eBuy websites. Responses to this sources sought announcement will not be considered adequate responses to the solicitation. All interested offerors must respond to the solicitation in addition to responding to this sources sought announcement. Prospective bidders must be authorized re-sellers in order to participate in the solicitation process.

Notice to potential offerors: All offerors who provide goods or services to the United States Federal Government must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) at www.sam.gov.
